About the artist

Trujillo (Cuba, 1976) is a contemporary visual artist with three decades of uninterrupted exploration between figuration and gestural abstraction. Trained in Fine Arts in Havana and holding a Master's in Artistic Heritage Management, Museums, and Art Market (Santiago de Compostela, 2022), his career combines rigorous technical mastery with a profound conceptual and institutional dimension. During his years of professional development in Cuba, he balanced his studio practice with university teaching as a Painting professor at the Faculty of Visual Arts of the University of the Arts (ISA) in Havana, contributing to the formation of new generations of artists.

Based in Pontevedra, Spain, his work captures the complex visual dialogue between human movement and urban spaces. Throughout his career, his painting has dynamically transitioned from pure figuration to formal deconstruction and gestural abstraction. His technical mastery is defined by the expressive use of acrylic and watercolor: high-texture impastos, delicate glazes, and forceful gestural strokes that evoke both emotional and architectural weight.

His work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in Spain and Cuba. Among his international accolades is the Certificate of Artistic Merit at the Luxembourg Art Prize, awarded by the Pinacothèque de Luxembourg. His pieces are now part of Foundations and Private Contemporary Art Collections in over ten countries — cementing his position as a mature and internationally recognized voice in contemporary abstraction.
