A summer morning on Cortegada Island, Atlantic Islands of Galicia National Park. Trujillo sets up his wooden easel on the shores of the Atlantic, with the Arousa estuary in the background and the coast of Vilagarcía silhouetted in the distance.

The brush moves directly onto the wet cardboard, capturing in real-time the changing light of the Atlantic, the ocher rocks covered with algae, the turquoise waters, and the twisted pine trees that peek out over the shore.

This small-format watercolor is the result of that en plein air painting session: a living work, executed with the immediacy that only painting in front of the real subject allows. Each brushstroke contains the humidity of the environment, the sound of the water, and the artist's concentration before the island's virgin nature.
